Our first challenge for July was to let a patriotic song inspire us and include some of the words to the song on our page(s). We recently took a 3-week trip through the southwest part of the U.S. It included the Grand Canyon and Sedona, Arizona.
We have traveled to several beautiful countries, but as we drove through our own, we commented that there is no country on earth which has such a variety of unbelievably magnificent sights. God must have really been "on a roll" when he got to America!
I chose black grid paper and two titles which I had purchased on our trip in anticipation of a possible mosaic to be created. I cut some vertical strips at the top of the first page--to give the idea of height and follow the look of the rock formations. Hopefully, it is effective.
To finish the challenge, I wrote the words to "This Land is Your Land" with a white journaling pen around the outside of the pages. The first verse was a definite fit to my feelings at the time . . ."As I was walking a ribbon of highway, I saw above me an endless skyway. I saw below me a golden valley . . . this land was made for you and me."
I added a few little musical notes to my journaling to finish the project.
