Land of the Free

July's first Design Team challenge was to use a patriotic song as inspiration for a page design. I used some phrases from "The Star Spangled Banner" as inspiration for my design this month.

My family went to Washington D.C for spring break this year and we saw a lot of wonderful sights and I took lots of photographs. As I thought about this month's project, I wanted to use some photos from our trip. I started to sort through my Cricut cartridges and discovered that the "Stand and Salute" cartridge has lots of great patriotic phrases on it. The cartridge had some phrases on it from "The Star Spangled Banner" and I thought the phrases  would be perfect with my photos of the memorials we visited.

The cartridge also had a dog tag on it and I thought that would be perfect for journaling. I found some ball chain in a drawer and added it for the finishing touch.

I edited my photos using Photoshop Elements and added text to my photos before saving and printing. I have also added text to photos by inserting the photos into Publisher and adding a text box to my photo. Another way is to use Picassa and do editing and add text. Save your photos with the text for printing at home or send out for processing. Hope that helps give you some ideas. It is really easy.

Ditto on the dog tag--great idea! I'd like to label some pics; how did you do it? Overall, this one is very impressive.

I agree with Andrea - great images. The dog tag with the chain add a nice touch of texture. The journaling on the photos is a nice way to add information.

Land of the Free...how appropriate to feature the various memorials in DC that commemorate the service of men and women in the various branches of military. Love the dog tag for journaling!!! Thanks for labeling the monuments too, so if we haven't seen them before, we'll know what we are seeing.
