Powell Gardens

For the end of May challenge, I used Sunflower grid paper and Pattern 13, which has 9 spots with a central focus (as instructed).  I guess the word "sunflower" struck a note, because I decided to use a flower theme.  My husband and three friends made a trip to Kansas City to tour Powell Gardens, and I had never decided what to do with those pictures.  My husband isn't in the pictures, because he was the one taking them.  I was out of town and didn't make the trip with them (now I wish I had been able to go).

I chose multiple journal spots in the lower half of the first page.  The central focus picture wasn't quite large enough for the specifications, so I matted it with dark brown.  The horizontal center of the second page follows the same line across so there would be a good flow.

The original pictures are probably much more beautiful and vivid than they are here on Journella, but my husband is very pleased with the outcome, and our friends are anxiously awaiting their chance to see them.

One thing I really like about being on the team and participating in the challenges is that it forces me to "get inspired" and complete some projects I should have done long before now.

Linda, you've presented several aspects of the Gardens in a very colorful presentation. The blue skies and the abundant greens work well on your Sunflower paper. From the obvious finds at gardens...the flowers and the critters (moth or butterfly?)to the less expected sculptures and architectural details or the ponds and fountains you've given a well rounded look at Powell Gardens. (and of course the friends who shared the trip!)

and I have to add - love how you cut the photos in the top two corners!

Love the handwritten journaling Linda - the photos look beautiful and your second page works very well with the assigned pattern. (I'd love to see you add a few detail images to your post.) :)
