Gorgeous Green

I probably overthought this challenge, but I am quite pleased with the outcome.  I chose green as my color and took all of my shots in our backyard.  My neighbor lady has a beautiful flower garden and a water garden, and my husband has planted many beautiful flowers this season.  So, I had many green "things" from which to choose.

I toyed with the idea of using black or dark green for the background   grid but decided to use white, because it is really the absence of color and wouldn't outshine all the shades of green.  What a beautiful variety of greens has our God created for us to enjoy!   Springtime in Missouri is the perfect time to capture them "on film."

I chose the title Gorgeous Green simply because I couldn't think of a better one.  Using a yellow-green mat, I adhered glitter/rhinestone green letters (I cheated a little by modifying the grids).  Both pages are a slightly altered Mosaic Moments pattern #31.

Some of the pictures are duplicates which I turned to fit my purposes and make the pages look formally balanced.  Also, I didn't want to cut off some of the ends of the leaves, so I silhouetted them (see bottom of both pages).  The rose was included for contrast and to fit the journaling content that states that the flowers would never be quite so beautiful without the greenery to enhance them.

When I think about it, that idea probably parallels people.  Many times we are more beautiful because of the family and friends who allow and enable us to shine.  My husband is one of those people, because he has been helping me to succeed and shine for almost 50 years--what a great cheerleader he is!

Linda, You always come up with the most wonderful ideas for your mosaics. I love this one. The leaves that you cut out look great.

Linda, all your lush greens bring a vibrancy to the layout! The fussy cut on some of your leaves is a technique you used with an airplane propellor in another layout which worked so nice. This repeat makes them jump off of the page! I love the idea behind it parallelling people. Foliage is often overlooked, yet the flowers wouldn't apprear as beautiful without the backdrop of green that was designed to show them off!

Beautiful! I appreciate gardens but (and maybe because) I can't grow a thing! I love how you captured the beauty of your garden and your comments.
