Indoor Antics

Four of our grandchildren came to our home for New Year's Eve, 2011, for a party and a sleepover (one of their favorite things to do).  I had purchased a book entitled, THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF IMMATURITY VOLUME 2.  It had some creative ways to have fun, if you are willing to be just a little "nuts."   We were, so we really had fun with it.  It had some pages you could hold up to your face and take a picture which made you look extremely weird (see center of page 2).  It also explained somewhat about "bulb photography."  Since Grandpa Phil has been trying out his hand at photography, he set up the tripod, and we "gave it a whirl" (literally).  The room must be completely dark, and the camera shutter has to be open 30 seconds.  Meanwhile, using a flashlight, you can write or draw whatever you can imagine.  I thought it was a good thing to submit as my photo challenge for February.   Since it was a wild and crazy evening (ending with hats and horns), I went a little wild and used Raspberry and Spring grid papers.   It was so much fun getting outside my "color box"!  The title letters are hot pink holographic, and I used hot pink gross grain ribbon at the corners to tie the first page together.  The children selected the colors and painted the walls (the others are of equally bright red, blue, and orange), and they love it.  Personally, I get a little queasy in there!  Page 2 is mostly 2 1/8' squares, and I double matted the 2 large focal point pictures.

You are the best Grandma in the world! I hope that someday I can do 1/2 as well.

Your grandkids are going to have such great memories of the wonderful time they had with you. Looks like it was a fun New Years! Love how you put your page together.

Wish I could take a dose of your creativity like a pill! You make this 'Nana' look boring and your pages are wonderful. Keep on sharing.

Way Cool! Grandparents that really know how to have fun and then document it for a great memory for them to enjoy over and over again! The photos of the whole dark/light thing are soooo cool...I think you have us all looking that book up! Using the bold color grid papers that match the walls is just so kid friendly and party appropriate...well done!

Love the colors, lime green is my favorite color. Very interesting pictures with the bulb photography photos reminds me of sparklers at 4th of July. We played Quelf on New Years Day and I thought it was crazy? Guess I too will have to look for that book.

Oops, I goofed! There were FIVE grandchildren at our party, I neglected to crop off the black part of the scan before submitting the layout, and I need to mention that Grandpa, Grandma, and all FIVE children were toasting with sparkling white grape juice. Oh well, maybe I'll do better next time . . .
