When I heard that the Terra Cotta Warrior exhibit was coming to our area (Washington D.C.) I was excited to get tickets. The Terra Cotta Warriors are considered to be one of the worlds most astonishing archaeological finds - an 8,000-man army in battle ready formation, each warrior a life sized figure in pottery made over 2,200 years ago!
The banner displayed on the outside of the building (photos above) showed what the statues looked like (where they were found and uncovered.) (Photos were not allowed inside the exhibit.)
The exhibit wasn't as impressive as I had hoped (not as many artifacts as I expected) but it was very interesting and educational. I think they may have had one of each type of warrior on display. It was interesting to see all the detail in the statues and read about the different clothing styles, hats etc. that helped archaeologists know what kind of warrior each statue represented.
May be one day I'll see the full exhibit - in China, along with that amazing great wall. :)
