MMDT #19 - Weaving

For this project the requirements were:

Create a page that integrates a woven aspect.

Element options – Include the following elements:

  • Patterned Paper
  • Fabric or ribbon
  • Chipboard

I chose to use the patterned paper for my weaving as well as the border of a couple of the photos.  At first I didn't like it as it blends all together...but then I thought with these pictures, it works!  The Peace Gardens are such a neat place; quiet and very unassuming.  The bridges are wonderful and they blend in with nature out there, so I thought the blending into the patterned paper ended up working wonderfully!

Here is page one up close:

The sculpture on the top left features the peace crane.  Those large rocks the surround it have the instructions on how to make an origami peace crane!

The second page features the bridges:

On this page I also used the chipboard frame to outline the photo of the sign.  It's the one little piece that doesn't blend!   But it draws your attention to what it is.

When I mounted the two photos, I used that same patterned paper...again it blends right in!

One last note:  When I did the weaving for the bottom sign photo, I didn't weave the entire thing.  I wove the edges along the grid lines, but left the middle where I mounted the photo.  This way the brown patterned paper framed the photo.  Just a little alternative!

PEACE!  AND ENJOY!

I feel calmer already. Such soothing pages...I agree with Andrea! Using the weaving technique as you did shows how creative you are! Great job!

The patterned paper blends in great with the photos. I like how your photo overlaps the weave on your second page. Beautiful :)

I heartily agree, this looks so tranquil and a wonderful place to unwind, I feel like I'm there too. Weaving patterned paper together selectively adds to the creativeness of the challenge.

Love the "earthy" feel your pages have. The garden looks like a place I'd enjoy. So wonderful to have locations like this where you can unwind and soak in the "peace." :)
