Design Team Challenge #15: Page Pattern 59

WHEW!!!!! Made it to the finish line-BEFORE time ran out!!!!!

Hey All,

Thanks for stopping by! Here I am with this month's first challenge.  This challenge was to use page pattern 59, on sandstone grid paper, flip the page and use a panoramic scene for the top rows.  I love the page pattern challenges because although everyone is using the same page pattern, they all come out completely different!! It's like a small window into our own personal world!! Any who- well, I've been up to something relaxing- VACATION!!!! woo-hoo!!! My husband and I took a  Royal Caribbean cruise to the  Bahamas.  It was amazing for so many reasons but the main one was because there was a tropical storm looming in the area at the same time with a threat of at least rain for the 2/3 days we were going to be in port- NOT ONE DROP!!!!I could not believe it, but I was thrilled.  The islands were not overwhelmingly hot, there was always a good breeze blowing-- it was very, very nice.

Soooooo,  I decided to use photos from one of the islands that I visited for this challenge. My vacation timing wounded up being perfect for this challenge and boy am I grateful!!

CoCo Cay Island is Royal Caribbean's private island.  We visited there on our 3rd day.  Because the island doesn't have a dock, the ship had to anchor out at sea. We got to shore by way of liberty boats that came to pick us up from the ship.

The photo of the mermaid was right off the shore of CoCo Cay and she just looked interesting to me.  She immediately drew me in when I saw her!

Can I say that this was the most relaxing day on a beach??? It was just perfect-no humidity, no rain, very few clouds AND a breeze! I could not wish for anything more!! It was amazing.

I decided to TRY and capture that day in this layout.  I decided not to use any pictures of "us" in the layout because I just wanted to capture everything I could about this awesome day at the:

Whole layout: For the panoramic view- I chose the beach. Doesn't it look like a big pool?!?!  The color and clarity of the water amazes me!!!

Left side of the Layout:

in the middle with the 1" squares is the cruise ship "Majesty of the Seas" Not sure you can tell in the photo on the bottom that a breeze was blowing from the palm trees. The sight of the birds was amazing because they seemed so at peace up there!

Right side of the Layout:

The middle 1' square photo is the liberty boat on it's way to get us!!!

Well, that is my layout and my version of page pattern 59. I hope you have enjoyed what I've shown you. If you can leave a comment and cheer me on it would be great hearing from you!!

See you soon,

Shannon

Indeed a great choice for the panoramic shot!! It does look like a huge pool!! I'm jealous! Great job on the pages, Shannon! Love the colors with the sandstone grid paper as well! And that mermaid as your teaser shot drew me right in!!

Really great job! Makes me long for the tropics again! You did a great job with the panoramic, I love the BEACH title, and the Coco Cay sign looks great! That mermaid photo would be great in the texture challenge! It looks really cool! Great job!

Shannon, congrats on getting to the finish line before time ran out :) Love the mermaid shot! It's amazing who good the paper goes with beach shots. Look like great fun!

Stunning! Beautiful beach shots play lovely against the Sandstone Grid, Shannon! The punch of orange color from the surrounding structures and signs adds a nice pop. The 'Beach' title done in beads looks a lot like sea glass..so very appropriate. Even though you aren't in the photos, you've given us a great look at what you saw and the time you enjoyed! Think this is one of my favorites that you've done Shannon!

What a fabulous view! Seeing it displayed panoramic style makes me feel like I am hanging out there with you. :) Love that you included the Coco Cay sign - it shows us where the photos were taken, and gives us a feel for the tropical beach atmosphere. Thanks for sharing!

What a perfect page for a panoramic. That water is amazing! I love that you took the time to photograph the "mood" of the vacation. Great job.
