Ask me what my favorite color is and I will tell you, "blue."
But, a few years ago my husband told me that I was wrong. My favorite color is actually yellow. At first I argued ... after all, how could he possibly know me more than I do?!
Then I started paying attention to the things that drew my eye. And I discovered he was right. Whether I was looking at scrapbook paper or walking through a department store, when I saw something that I really liked, it was yellow.
So, when Tami asked us to create a mono-chromatic color scheme, I picked yellow.
Although I must admit, it was not my first choice. Originally, I thought of doing a study in green, showcasing the different colors of green found in nature in springtime. But I was having trouble getting my photos to turn out how I wanted them to.
Then, I thought red would be easy ... I have a red shed, a red truck, a red chicken coop, a red rabbit hutch, etc. And then I decided that would be too easy and not really in the spirit of the challenge, so I decided to go with my subconsciously favorite color -- yellow.
And I was so glad I did ... the page turned out exactly how I thought yellow should be ... warm and happy and soft and bright.
Many of my photos were taken in my own yard. Others were taken at a hardware store, a home improvement store and a garden store. The forsythia was important for me to include, so I drove around until I found a home with a beautiful tree line and then took photos of it.
The parrot belongs to my cousin. The tiny chick in the upper left corner is one of my new babies. The other chicks in the bottom right corner are the meat chickens we are raising this year.
Finally, in full disclosure, I want to admit that the lighthouse photo is not new. I took it a few years ago. But there was no way I could get another sunset photo for this challenge and I really wanted a landscape photo on this page.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed taking these photos over the past few weeks.
