DT Challenge #10: Yellow

Ask me what my favorite color is and I will tell you, "blue."

But, a few years ago my husband told me that I was wrong. My favorite color is actually yellow. At first I argued ... after all, how could he possibly know me more than I do?!

Then I started paying attention to the things that drew my eye. And I discovered he was right. Whether I was looking at scrapbook paper or walking through a department store, when I saw something that I really liked, it was yellow.

So, when Tami asked us to create a mono-chromatic color scheme, I picked yellow.

Although I must admit, it was not my first choice. Originally, I thought of doing a study in green, showcasing the different colors of green found in nature in springtime. But I was having trouble getting my photos to turn out how I wanted them to.

Then, I thought red would be easy ... I have a red shed, a red truck, a red chicken coop, a red rabbit hutch, etc. And then I decided that would be too easy and not really in the spirit of the challenge, so I decided to go with my subconsciously favorite color -- yellow.

And I was so glad I did ... the page turned out exactly how I thought yellow should be ... warm and happy and soft and bright.

Many of my photos were taken in my own yard. Others were taken at a hardware store, a home improvement store and a garden store. The forsythia was important for me to include, so I drove around until I found a home with a beautiful tree line and then took photos of it.

The parrot belongs to my cousin. The tiny chick in the upper left corner is one of my new babies. The other chicks in the bottom right corner are the meat chickens we are raising this year.

Finally, in full disclosure, I want to admit that the lighthouse photo is not new. I took it a few years ago. But there was no way I could get another sunset photo for this challenge and I really wanted a landscape photo on this page.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed taking these photos over the past few weeks.

This page is absolutely beautiful! I also love YELLOW; especially yellow roses which were my grandmother's favorite. I usually say BLUE because I wear a lot of blue; and I wear or have a lot of pink - for Breast Cancer; I am not a victim or survivor but have family and friends that are; so I support it all the way. YELLOW is truly my favorite color; I think I may have to do a page like this...gives me a project to do - take photos for a page like this!!! Thanks for sharing!

Heather: The center photo is a little bird on a stick in my garden. I love his bright colors! Lori: I put the chicks in my photo box and just started shooting (pics).

Candy, what a nice job! While I can't WEAR yellow, I love all things yellow. This makes me want to try and do a monochromatic page. Thanks for sharing--you did a fabulous job!

It is really cute how you said your favorite color is blue, but your husband saw so clearly that your favorite color is yellow. I love the photo of the sunset. It is super. The forsythia worked well cut up. This is just beautiful.

This page makes me smile. :) What a great tribute to all things spring -- not green but very, sunny yellow.

Love how you used the paint swatch on the page. Great photos - sunny, bright, and cheerful page. You've done a wonderful representation of yellow and I love your story about how you learned that it is your "true" favorite color.
