MMDT Challenge #7: Dunes

The first time I tabbed through Mosaic Moments Page Patterns, I few in love with #46.

There is something that just draws me to this pattern. In fact, I have several more ideas on how to use it.

So, when this challenge allowed us to pick our own pattern, I knew this was the one I was going to do!

I wanted the pictures to sort of pop out of the patterned paper (by Webster's Pages).

This page worked perfectly for photos of the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Although the scenery was beautiful, it didn't translate well into pictures, so I only had a few to work with.

I cut up the sign and used it as the title. I also included a photo of the distant lighthouse, one of the shoreline and one where you can see the sand of the dunes.

The most prominent photo captures the fun my husband and I had taking photos of the scenery. The fun of photographing the scenery was actually more fun, for us that day, than viewing it. The park was really crowded and there were a lot of screaming moms, wild children and rude people at the park that day. While the general ambiance took away from the beauty of the park, we still managed to have fun with our cameras.

I know these aren't normally things people would include in a scrapbook or journal, but I think it is important to record the truth ... although I did downplay it a little bit on my page.

I added a few stickers as accents and wrote the journaling by hand. This was something I had stopped doing for a while, but started up again with Mosaic pages. I had forgotten how quick and easy it is!

Here is a close up of the journaling ...

I love layout #46, but I have been afraid to try it. You did a great job with it. I love the colors and the hand journaling gives it a personal touch. The photos are great.

Looks like the Dunes would be a good place to visit. Will have to put that on my list. Nice layout - haven't used that page pattern yet will have to try. Beautiful photos :)

I love the way you used the patterned paper with this page pattern. I have admired this layout before, but wasn't sure how I'd ever use it. I like the idea for using the patterned paper. I like your photos and I think your page is great!

I love the page pattern and think you did a great job using it to your advantage. I hate when I take a bunch of photos and then only have a few to work with- it makes me crazy!!! The ones you used are awesome... love the photo of your hubby taking photos as well.

I would say that this is an extremely well-balanced page. The lighthouse background is awesome and frames your pictures well. Outstanding.

I have never used this page pattern, but your layout makes me want to try it! VERY COOL! I too really like the lighthouse patterned paper and how you worked it in with the photos. I love the wheel at the bottom of the journaling and the patterned one inch squares at the bottom, too. AND, I like that you journaled honestly! YOu are so right that sometimes taking photos is better than the actual experience! Though on the flip side, I do have to say that sometimes I need to remember to put the camera down and enjoy the moment, too! :) Nice job, Candy!

So fun to see a whole new "side" to this page pattern. Love the contrast of the patterned paper against the bahama blue grid - really makes it pop!

Candy, I love the idea of the photos "popping out of the pattern paper" It looks really nice. While, I like the entire page, I LOVE the lighthouse and how it looks in the 1" squares and how it aurrounds the other pictures. Very nice job!

I too have always been drawn to this page pattern! The Dunes are a great place to visit, but I agree it's a bit difficult to translate the vastness of the area in a photo. However you managed to capture the fun you and your husband enjoyed as though it was just the two of you!
