Underway!!!

Hello All,

Here is a layout from my Navy Daze!!! Here we are out to sea (or underway as sailors call it!!) I frequently took pictures because I know regular everyday people wouldn't believe it!!! During drills that went on all of the time on a daily basis- we had a "phone talker" I had to get a photo of that-that's priceless.  The phone was communication to the bridge where the commands were coming from. During our day, we had plenty to do, paint, clean, fix things that were not broken-all sorts of things!   Occasionally, we had Holiday Routine on Sundays. That's when no one has to work (but if you had watch, you had to stand it) and we could sleep in, relax and just chill out!  On those same days we had what the navy called a Steel Beach Picnic. Basically, the cooks would cook hotdogs, and burgers and they would set up the food on the fantail (back deck of ship) and all of the crew would come out and get some fresh air, sit on the deck, eat and just enjoy each other.  We always had music and maybe some dancing. It was a good time.  Since we had to be out there, we made the very best of it.
