Hello everyone, and thank you for stopping by to see my very first challenge!
I was scared to death of this challenge, as I'm sure many of us were as I'm not used to scrapping about myself. I started jotting notes down about myself as they came to me...favorite color, pink, which was the inspiration for my choice in color of grid paper...my love for my dogs and gardening...and cake. It started coming a little easier, and before I knew it, my whole page was planned out. Here's how I started:
I looked through the Mosaic Moments Page Patterns from www.tamipotter.com. I chose Pattern 58-Scrapbooking with Multi-borders as I pictured the large area at the top center for my journaling space. I decided to use the space to include some facts about myself. I chose 2 patterned pages of Basic Grey's Green at Heart collection to coordinate with the Raspberry Grid paper I'd chosen. I printed the layout so I could jot my ideas on it as they came to me. I also printed a couple of photos to illustrate my journaling, which reads as follows:
As the title says, this page is all about me! As I mentioned, the raspberry grid paper was inspired by my favorite color, pink. You can see my love for retro in my glasses and my home; see the funky clock, credenza and fiberglass curtains in the photo with my aluminum Christmas tree? Also pictured are photos of my best friends...the dogs in my life! The top photo is of my two papillons, Risi and Ming. The middle photo is of my collie, Blue, that I lost unexpectedly to a brain aneurysm earlier in 2012. The bottom photo is of my first two papillons, Peyton and Earl. Peyton lived to be 12 years old, and I just lost Earl in 2012 at the ripe old age of 15. The bottom left photo is of me winning my very first ribbon for my peppers at the Walworth County Fair in 2010. Some people love shoes, some jewelry...my guilty pleasure is purses! This photo is a very small sampling of my collection...to photograph the entire collection would be embarrassing :) Lastly, my love for dogs, pink and cake have all been combined in the gigantic cake I received for my 40th birthday. I ate the whole thing with very little help!
One of my favorite techniques in scrapbooking is inking the edges of my photos and papers to give a more finished look. I always ink the edges of my photos so that you don't see the white edges against the darker color grid papers, but I also think it gives my pages a more uniform and color-coordinated look. I use a sponge to add color from my inkpad.
So now you know all about me! It's nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by!
Hope to see you next time!
Heather
