We switched internet, phone and cable services last week, and "things" didn't go well. We had no service on any of the above for over a week. Therefore, my last challenge is very late, but I am submitting it anyway. I was so frustrated with all the issues with the internet that my creative juices nearly dried up. I did, however, manage to come up with a fairly good layout.
Instead of reviewing all of the activities with our family, I decided to do a sampling of the places my husband and I visited. In the spring, we went to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and The Villages in Florida for one week at each location. Then in early summer, we traveled to Branson, MO (it is just 4 hours from our home).
We had a trip planned to Gatlinburg, and I discovered three days before we were to leave that the CKU convention was being held in Nashville on the day we would be going through there. I called Kevin Potter and asked if he needed any help. He said he did, so Phil and I spent two nights at the Opryland hotel, and I worked at the Mosaic Moments booth with Kevin. It was very tiring, but I enjoyed so much meeting other ladies who love to create mosaics (and some who were just getting started). One lady in particular touched my heart when she told me her 19-year-old son had been killed in 2011 in the army. She had started scrapbooking to keep her mind occupied.
Now, back to my layout. I created it on storm grid paper--all the pictures have lots of green in them. On each page, I matted the focal point pictures, because they were my favorites. I didn't journal, but I did write the names of the locations around the outside edges of the pages.
I guess you would say I utilized a favorite saying of one of my friends, "Fancy is fun, but simple is DONE!"
It has been great fun and lots of work being on the first Design Team. The best part was hearing comments from my friends and those of you who have cheered me on. Also, I did get many more mosaics done than in previous years. In addition, the pages the other team members submitted gave me lots of new ideas.
