My Little Budding Musician

My granddaughter is now in middle school and has started Band! I'm so excited because I was a music major in school. Neither of my kids pursued music and so now to have Leyda in Band, I am ecstatic!  I just hope she stays with it!

For this challenge I used Paper Wishes Color Me paper in a music theme to bring out the purple and gold colors from the picture.  I then added gold stitching around the flourishes on the paper and little music note stickers.

I really like the entire layout. My granddaughter started to play the viola and I have been looking for the perfect layout for her photo with her viola. Thanks for the inspiration. Can't wait to get started. My first step is to order the PaperWishes Color Me paper.

I love that you used your background paper for the mosaic tiles on the 8.5 x 11 paper. It is very effective. I also think your stitching really makes the swirls pop out of the paper. Nice project!

The paper sounds neat - it would be nice to see the before/in process/after shots to show off your great techniques. I hope your granddaughter continues with band too - a great way to bond with her grandmother. :)

Thanks for the reminder Andrea! I forgot to mention what type of ink I used. For this one I used wisteria and yellow ochre chalk inks by ClearSnap. I often use Ranger Distress inks on Color Me papers too. You can really use almost anything - pigment inks give you time to blend a little more.

I have never tried the Color Me papers before. It's a nice idea to be able to use the exact colors you want to match your photos. What kind of ink or chalk did you use? Using it for your tiles gave a very random look to the pattern. Your gold stitches really accent the swirls in the paper and the Title and notes give contrast. Great job, Nancy! Note to all: tip for leaving comments(from someone who goofs this up way too often)...hit submit on your comments before selecting a cheer or you will lose your comment...thank heaven for screen shot and figuring out how to use it!!
