Our 2nd challenge for May was Flowers! Unfortunately, with a late winter we didn't get the April showers to bring us all the May flowers! But, I did find some.
We were asked to create the page using floral elements and use 1 or more of the following, wrinkled paper, metal accents and ink. For this challenge I started with the Mosaic Moments grid paper Bamboo color. I have had these great sunflower doilies that I got from the Dollar Store 2yrs ago, that I knew I would use sooner or later. Well, it's later! I thought they would look great on the page with pictures of other flowers as their center.
I knew I had gotten a really good shot of a blooming magnolia tree that I wanted to use as well.
I printed out the magnolia picture in 8x10 size and then proceeded to cut it into 1" squares using my Mosaic Moments mat. I filled in the squares on the grid and tucked them in under the sunflowers as well.
I wanted to use it as the background for the sunflowers, but realized I would need something else to fill in the bottom 3". So I went about creating a flowerpot. Using some nice textured light brown paper from my stock I cut a strip 1 1/2" wide and rounded the top two corners. Then I cut the edges on an angle. I then cut another piece of the same paper at 2 1/2" x 11 1/8". I decided to ink the edge, to give it dimension. I also used my Cricut Craft Room to cut out some garden tools and inked them as well.
To finish up I used a metal accent that I inserted the year in. I felt the page with the year on it was really all the journaling necessary. Sometimes the story is in the pictures.
Thanks for stopping by to... see the flowers!
